Edit and delete
Editing a discount opens the same page you created it on, filled in with what was saved. Deleting one removes it from Shopify for good.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”Edit opens the discount’s own page. Change anything you like; the save bar appears at the top as soon as the form differs from what is saved, and disappears again if you put it back. Discard returns the page to the saved values.
Delete asks first, then removes the discount from Shopify. There is no undo.
Where it is
Section titled “Where it is”Both are in the Actions column of each row on Manage discounts — the pencil is Edit discount, the bin is Delete discount. Clicking the row’s Edit takes you to the right editor for that discount, including the preset editors for Quantity Break, Spend More Save More and Gift with Purchase.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”Opens the discount. The page header reads “Edit …” with the discount’s id, and Duplicate sits beside it.
Appears in the save bar once something has changed. Save writes the change to Shopify immediately.
Discard
Section titled “Discard”Puts every field back to the saved values and clears the save bar.
Leaves the page. With unsaved changes you are asked to confirm first.
Delete
Section titled “Delete”Opens Delete discount? with the discount’s name, a warning — “This action cannot be undone. The discount will be permanently removed from Shopify and will no longer apply to any orders.” — and Delete / Cancel. The row disappears as soon as it is done, with a Discount deleted toast.
What cannot be changed after creation
Section titled “What cannot be changed after creation”- The discount method. Automatic and Discount Code are chosen at creation; on the edit page the choice is stated, not offered again. Duplicate the discount and pick the other method on the copy.
- Currency conversion, on some discounts. Where it is fixed, the card shows On or Off as a badge with “Can’t be changed after the discount is created.” and offers Duplicate it with this on.
Examples
Section titled “Examples”Change a percentage on a live discount
Manage discounts → EditPercentage: 10 → 15SaveGive a discount an end date
Manage discounts → EditActive Dates → Set End Date: tickedEnd Date / End Time: the new endSaveRemove a discount for good
Manage discounts → DeleteDelete discount? → DeleteLimits and notes
Section titled “Limits and notes”- The save bar is the only way changes are kept. Leaving the page without saving keeps the discount as it was.
- Editing is live. A saved change is written to Shopify immediately.
- Delete is permanent and removes the discount from Shopify, not only from the app.
- If a delete fails, the confirmation stays open so you can retry, and a message says “Couldn’t delete the discount. Try again.”
- A storefront display may need a retry. If a deleted discount’s storefront display did not follow, a message says “Saved, but not published to Shopify. Retry from Promotions.”
- Deactivate instead of deleting when you might want the offer back — see Activate and deactivate.
Related
Section titled “Related”- Discount list — where both actions live.
- Duplicate — the way round the settings that are fixed at creation.
- Activate and deactivate — turning a discount off without losing it.
