Activate and deactivate

Deactivating stops a discount running without losing it. It is the safe way to pull an offer, because everything you set up stays exactly as it was.

Each row on Manage discounts carries a switch. Flipping it asks Shopify to activate or deactivate that discount, and the row updates as soon as Shopify answers. A toast confirms: Discount activated or Discount deactivated.

The status badge follows Shopify, not a guess. Switching a discount on whose start date is still in the future leaves it Scheduled, because that is what it is.

Manage discounts — the Actions column on each row, to the left of Edit and Delete. Hover the switch and it says Activate or Deactivate.

On means the discount is Active. Off takes it out of Active. The switch is disabled while the change is in flight, with a small spinner in the knob.

The result, in the Status column: Active, Scheduled or Expired.

The Active, Scheduled and Expired tabs above the table are the fastest way to see what is running right now. When a status filter is on, a row you just switched leaves the view if it no longer belongs there.

Pause an offer for a week

Manage discounts → find the discount
Actions → switch: off

Bring it back

Manage discounts → tab: Expired
Actions → switch: on
  • Deactivating deletes nothing. Rules, dates, markets, segments and combinations all stay.
  • Shopify decides the resulting status. The app shows what Shopify reports, so switching on a future-dated discount gives Scheduled.
  • Status corrects itself. Shopify sends nothing when a discount expires or starts purely by the passage of time, so the app re-reads the real status when you open it and updates the badges quietly, with no reload.
  • If the change fails, the row goes back to what it was and a message says “Couldn’t update the discount. Try again.”
  • A storefront display may need a retry. If the discount changed in Shopify but its storefront display did not follow, a message says “Saved, but not published to Shopify. Retry from Promotions.”
