Ranked by recent Shopify-verified work first (a merchant review in the last 12 months), then Shopify partner tier, then review count. "Best for" says which job each one suits.
What a US store build has to get right
Pick any agency above and these are the US settings to check with it before launch:
Sales tax nexus: settle it before launch
Sales tax is the US setting most likely to change after launch, so give it its own line in the brief. You owe sales tax in a state where you have a business location (physical nexus) or where your sales pass that state’s threshold (economic nexus). Tax liability insights in Shopify warns you once your sales in a state reach 80% of its threshold (Shopify Help Center).
Shopify remits US sales tax for you only with automated filing in Shopify Tax or with US sales tax managed by Shopify; otherwise you file with each state yourself (Shopify Help Center). Before the first order, tell your agency which states you already have nexus in, and agree who watches the threshold warnings once the store is live: you, your accountant or the agency’s support team.
Checked, not listed. Three US names that come up in search results are missing here, and this is why. Netalico, a Premier partner in Miami with clients such as Big Green Egg and Crossrope, runs city pages that each name a different headquarters, so we could not pin down which office would serve you. BlueSwitch, at 29 Broadway in New York, built Panasonic’s store, but its newest Shopify review is from October 2024 and the work pages we read carry no 2025 or 2026 dates. C2 Digital in Miami has 732 Shopify reviews, yet we could not find store links in its featured work to open.
How we picked and checked
Our team started from 47 agencies that build on Shopify with an office in the United States, found through the Shopify Partner Directory, apps' partner lists and the agencies' own sites. An agency made the list only if Shopify is its core work and it shipped client work in 2025 or 2026.
For every agency on the list we checked:
- its Shopify partner profile: tier, reviews and partner date;
- its own site, wherever it let us in, and its listings on app partner directories;
- up to three client stores it shows as its work. "Live on Shopify" means the store loads and its pages run on Shopify's storefront. "Fast on mobile" means it passes Core Web Vitals on phones in Google's real-user data (Chrome UX Report); no stamp means too little Google data or not passing yet.
The order follows one rule: agencies with a Shopify review from the last 12 months come first, because they are clearly still shipping work; then Shopify partner tier (Platinum, then Premier, Plus and Select); then how many reviews each has; then the share of its showcased stores live on Shopify. "Best for" says where each one is strongest, so a lower-ranked agency can still be the right pick for your project.
Shashwat is a developer and the founder of DiscountOS. He has built Shopify stores and Shopify apps and has worked alongside Shopify agencies on client builds, and he writes our guides to how Shopify discounts work and our research on Shopify agencies. The research behind this page was done by hand by the DiscountOS team, and Shashwat checked and signed the ranking. "Weigh first" is the point we would raise with each agency before signing, from the same research. Every fact carries the date we checked it.
No agency paid to be here, and no listing depends on a link back. DiscountOS is a Shopify app, not an agency, so we have no one of our own to rank.
